About Us

Pocahontas Woods is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing a thriving community of high-end furniture makers in Pocahontas County, West Virginia and the surrounding area. We operate a training program for beginning and intermediate woodworkers and provide support for woodworking businesses, including a variety of machinery available to rent. Small class sizes and dedicated instructors provide for a more personalized educational experience.

Hand tools and traditional construction methods are an educational focus of Pocahontas Woods. Students gain hands-on experience in furniture-making and learn good business practices by assisting master woodworkers to build high-quality custom furniture.

We are located in Marlinton WV, surrounded by the beauty of the Allegheny Mountains in a newly renovated and equipped 3,300 square foot woodshop. Food and lodging are nearby, and the Greenbrier River Trail, a 78-mile hiking and biking trail, runs just behind the woodshop on its way through Marlinton.
