Pocahontas Woods is a non-profit entrepreneurial and educational facility located in Marlinton, West Virginia. Besides offering individual and group instruction, the staff at Pocahontas Woods can provide assistance in all areas of product development from design and construction to presentation and marketing.
Eighty percent of Pocahontas County—the second largest county east of the Mississippi—is a well regulated national forest. Our basic tenet is to promote the creative and ecologically sound utilization, enjoyment and understanding of our forest resource. Any self-motivated individual can take advantage of our myriad programs and emerge a more knowledgeable woodworker.
As an adjunct to our regional responsibilities, Pocahontas Woods is a ongoing furniture design and construction facility. We build pieces for our store, on commission and for galleries that sell our work. Local tradesmen use our shop equipment for prepping and assembly of materials. To us, these ongoing functions enhance the educational experience for those here in everything from our open shop, journeyman and apprentice, to our degree program students.
Stop by our shop if you are up here skiing at Snowshoe, biking on or off the trails, canoeing, camping in the parks, enjoying our rivers and lakes or the good life at the many regional resorts.
